Striper Fishing Fall/Winter

Let Corolla Bait & Tackle be your guide for some of the most awesome fishing you will ever find! The striped bass population has grown tremendously, and every year around November 1st, our trips in the backcountry sound waters begin finding the fish schooling up, and if the wind is right and the conditions are favorable, you can literally catch striped bass on every cast! It is nothing to find big flocks of birds, then gingerly drift into them casting plugs, and come away with a fight you'll never forget! This is a great trip for light tackle spinning and fly fishing enthusiasts! We can run half day, 3/4 day, or full day trips for the light tackle, backcountry stripers.

When the sound water temperatures begin dropping and the schooling fish begin dissipating, all the hot action switches to the ocean. This generally occurs around mid-December and lasts well into February. The class of stripers is much bigger, ranging from 20 to 50 pounders! The strategy is the same - run until you find big flocks of birds, and then start casting. Our trips can be conducted on light tackle open boats if the conditions are right, or we can put your group on a bigger vessel with protection from the wind and elements, which is usual for winter weather. You'll definitely want to consider a 3/4 day or full day trip for the ocean stripers. Then, when the ocean stripers begin fading, around early March, the backcountry water temps begin rising, and the sound stripers turn back on for another 2-3 months!

Whether you prefer the backcountry or the ocean stripers, you'll experience a trip you will not soon forget! Both trips include all bait and tackle, and you are only responsible for your food and drinks. Give us a call and come see what we do in the fall and winter months!!
